Klaipėda resident tried for concealing 1 kg of cocaine in tinned containers
A Lithuanian citizen L. B. is accused of unlawful possession and sale of cocaine. He faces imprisonment of between 10 and 15 years.

According to 15min.lt, Lithuanian citizen L. B. (born 1962) is being prosecuted for unlawfully possessing, transporting and selling approximately 1.5 kg of powder containing around 1 kg of cocaine as part of a criminal group with N. M. and G. B.
According to pre-trial investigation data, the crime was organised and committed in Lithuania in early 2017. The conspirators agreed to sell the cocaine to V. V. for 50,000 euros.
N. M. and G. B. packaged the drugs and hermetically sealed them into 6 tinned containers using a can-sealing device. One of the conspirators transported the containers to Kaunas and handed them over to V. V. At the time of the drugs transfer, the buyer paid 10,000 euros, with the remainder to be delivered later following the cocaine's sale.
V. V. transported the acquired narcotic substance to his house in Klaipėda district for concealment purposes. In spring 2017, police carried out a search and found and seized the tinned containers with the hidden cocaine.
Following the separation of this investigation from the part involving N. M., G. B. and V. V., in February 2023 Šiauliai Regional Court imposed lengthy prison sentences on them.
The last of the conspirators – L. B. – was arrested abroad in 2018 and served a prison sentence there for a different criminal act. Upon returning to Lithuania, he was unable to avoid accountability: the man was arrested and remanded in custody. He was subsequently assigned a preventive measure – bail.
Temporary restrictions were placed on the suspect's property rights over more than 344,000 euros and nearly 4,000 US dollars in cash.
For unlawful possession of a very large quantity of narcotic or psychotropic substances, Lithuanian law provides for imprisonment of between 10 and 15 years.
