Klaipėda police have detained two young men suspected of distributing drugs in the port city and other locations across Lithuania. During the investigation, over 400 packages of narcotics were confiscated.

Coastal police detained two unemployed men, aged 19 and 21, with no previous convictions, who are suspected of trafficking in drugs. A pre-trial investigation was initiated last August.
The entire case began in a park on Herkaus Mantas Street, where officers stopped two suspicious individuals. The older of the two was found to be carrying 13 bags containing 3-CMC, and in a nearby bag there were a further 13 identical packages.
During a search of the detainees' vehicle, officers discovered a further 94 bags containing 3-CMC, 31 bags of cocaine and 52 bags of cannabis. On the same day, 18 hiding places containing drugs prepared for sale were found in the park.
In the course of the investigation, it became apparent that the narcotics were being sold through internet applications. Buyers, it is believed, paid using virtual currency, whilst sellers provided the exact locations of hidden packages.
Subsequently, law enforcement, working together with colleagues from other cities, discovered hiding places in Molėtai, Utena, Ukmergė, the capital, Jonava, Kaunas and Panevėžys. Various substances were found: 2-CMC, MDMA, 4-CMC, 2-CB, ketamine and hallucinogenic mushrooms.
Both suspects were remanded in custody, but were later released on a signed undertaking not to leave. They were charged with unlawful possession of a large quantity of narcotics for purposes of distribution. This offence carries a sentence of between 8 and 10 years imprisonment.
