On Sunday evening in Panevėžys district, in Šventupiai village, a woman travelling in a car died after the vehicle veered off the road. The vehicle was being driven by an intoxicated man.
According to the police department, the accident occurred at approximately 18:11. A Citroën Xsara driven by a person born in 1977 ended up in a ditch. The driver was found to have a blood alcohol level of 2.42 ppm.
A passenger born in 1966 died in the incident. The driver was admitted to a medical facility.
A pre-trial investigation has been opened into a traffic violation.
