Tauragė regional police officers initiated more than ten pre-trial investigations in Šilutė district over the long holiday weekend. The spectrum of incidents was broad – ranging from intoxicated drivers to violence, drug possession and damage to others' property.
One of the most numerous points on the incident list was drink-driving. On the afternoon of 7 July, a thirty-year-old man in Šilutė town, with nearly four parts per thousand of alcohol detected in his body, lost control of an Opel and crashed into a fence. On the same day in Kinčai municipality, in the village of Šyšgiriai, a man born in 1982 (2.72 ppm) veered off the road into a ditch with a light motor vehicle.
A traffic incident was also recorded in Švėkšna municipality, in the village of Kalnalis. There, a sober man born in 1966, driving a Scania R410 lorry with a trailer, lost control of the vehicle due to slippery road surface and collided with a VW Tiguan. The light motor vehicle driver (born in 1987) and a passenger (born in 1986) were taken to medical staff for examination.
Violations involving weapons and drugs also came to the attention of officers. On the evening of 23 June, in Grabupio village, Šilutė municipality, a resident born in 1983 discovered a firearm in a woodshed. On the evening of 6 July, during a partial search of a nineteen-year-old man born in 1993 in Šilutė, a plastic packet containing a psychoactive substance was found in his wallet. Another drugs case ended during a check on the night of 4 July in Macikai village – a bag with prohibited substances was found in a twenty-year-old's Audi.
Violence incidents were also numerous. On the evening of 5 July in Degučiai village, Žemaičiai Naumiestis municipality, a teenager born in 2006 (2.75 ppm) injured a man born in 1965. On the same day on Gluosnis Street in Šilutė, a nineteen-year-old woman (born in 1999) caused bodily injuries to a child born in 2016. The suspect was detained. On 25 June on Bokšto Lane, a man born in 1946 inflicted physical pain on a person born in 1983.
Two deaths were recorded. In the early morning of 6 July, a man born in 1977 was found in a flat on Gluosnis Street – there were no external signs of violence on his body. Another male body, sixty-eight years old, was found in a flat on Darius and Girėnas Street on the afternoon of 3 July. In both cases, pre-trial investigations were initiated to ascertain the circumstances of death.
Thefts and property damage also added to the incident list. On 29 June in Gaidėliai village, Šilutė municipality, thirty trees were illegally felled in a forest plot belonging to a man born in 1970 – causing damage worth five hundred euros. On 26 June in the same Gluosnis district, a man born in 1970 did not find his Samsung A56 telephone at home (loss – 369 euros). On the night of 24 June, a shop window was smashed on Cintjoniškiai Street (loss – 483 euros).
In the final entry on the list – a traffic accident on the evening of 23 June in Drunšiliai village, Juknaičiai municipality. There, a teenager born in 2008 lost control of a motor vehicle and fell to the ground. A passenger travelling with her and the driver herself were taken to hospital.
