Detained border official's connections lead to Interior Ministry: relative is deputy minister

One of the detained border service officials has family ties with a high-ranking Interior Ministry official. The border official's relative is Interior Ministry Deputy Minister Alicija Ščerbaitė, who belongs to the team of Minister Vladislav Kondratovich.

A. Ščerbaitė joined the Social Democrats in 2024, leaving the Labour Party. Previously she sought to enter the Seimas – in 2020 she took part in elections as a Labour Party candidate. At that time her election campaign was supported by several people, including Vilius Keršys, who lived in Šalčininkai District and contributed 50 euros.

Although A. Ščerbaitė did not become a member of parliament, she remained active in political work. She worked as an aide to Seimas members and was elected to the Šalčininkai District Municipal Council. After moving to the Social Democrats, she quickly took the position of deputy minister and gained the minister's confidence.
