Tauragė woman had 15 firearms confiscated – one is missing, investigation launched
Fifteen firearms were seized from a 65-year-old woman in Tauragė following a domestic violence incident. When documents were checked, it emerged that one firearm did not match the permit.

According to 15min, on 2 August a 65-year-old woman born in 1961 and living in Tauragė lost the right to hold firearms following a report of domestic violence. In executing a warrant, officers confiscated all of her firearms – a total of 15 units in all.
The warrant in this case was issued to the woman herself: according to preliminary information, a conflict arose between close family members, and the woman holding the firearms is suspected of committing violence. A spokeswoman for Tauragė District Police Headquarters, Greta Kęsminaitė-Pudžemė, stated that the seized items included revolvers, pistols, carbines and shotguns. The firearms came to the woman through inheritance – after the death of a man in whose name a permit to hold them had previously been issued.
Upon cross-checking the seized firearms against the permit, a discrepancy was discovered: a "Margolin" pistol listed in the document was not found among the firearms actually obtained. In its place, another firearm was provided – an IŽ-40, which is not mentioned in the permit at all.
As a result of these circumstances, Tauragė District Police Headquarters launched a pre-trial investigation under Article 255, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. Officers are investigating why the firearm listed in the register is missing and how the IŽ-40 that replaced it ended up among the firearms handed over. What explanation the woman herself has provided has not been officially disclosed. According to spokeswoman G. Kęsminaitė-Pudžemė, the woman is known to officers due to previous incidents.
