Google News LT — Crime (lt) reports that on 2 August, a 65-year-old woman born in 1961 and residing in Tauragė lost the right to keep her firearms – they were seized in the course of an order issued for domestic violence.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the order was issued against the woman herself: according to initial information, a conflict arose within the family, and the woman who kept the firearms is suspected of committing violence against a close family member.
In total, officers seized 15 firearms. Greta Kęsminaitė-Pudžemė, a representative of the Tauragė District Chief Police Commissariat, stated that among the seized firearms were revolvers, pistols, rifles with rifled barrels and smooth-bore shotguns. The firearms came to the woman through inheritance – following the death of the man in whose name the permit to keep them was issued.
When the firearms were seized, they were verified against the documentation. During the verification of documents, it was established that a "Margolin" pistol listed in the certificate was not among the firearms actually received – in its place, another weapon not mentioned in the document, an IŽ-40, was provided.
Due to this discrepancy, the Tauragė District Chief Police Commissariat launched a pre-trial investigation in accordance with Article 255, Part 1 of the Lithuanian Criminal Code. Kęsminaitė-Pudžemė also noted that the woman is known to officers due to previous incidents.
Why a different weapon appeared in place of the firearm listed in the inventory remains under investigation by officers. The arguments presented by the woman herself are not being disclosed, according to the local news website kurjeris.lt.
