A desecrated Chapel of the Virgin Mary has been discovered in Telšiai district, in Pasruojė village. The Telšiai District Chief Police Commissariat reported the discovery.

On 27 June, officers received a report of extensive damage to the sanctuary. The intruders scattered images of saints, smashed glass stained-glass windows, and overturned a small chapel that stood inside. Additionally, a chapel pillar that had been located outside was uprooted and thrown into the building itself. An outdoor chapel was also destroyed.

The exact extent of material damage is still being determined.

In connection with this incident, the Telšiai District Chief Police Commissariat has initiated a pre-trial investigation under the Criminal Code provision concerning the desecration of a grave or another place of public veneration.

Police are calling on members of the public who have any information about this incident to contact officers.
