On the morning of 10 May, several unidentified individuals tore down the Ukrainian flag on Pylimo Street in the capital, threw it to the ground and trampled it. Police are investigating the desecration of state symbols.

Police in Vilnius seek men over desecration of Ukrainian flag

On 10 May at around 5.30 a.m., several individuals removed the Ukrainian flag from its post on Pylimo Street in the capital, threw it onto the pavement and left it trampled. Vilnius district officers were informed of the incident.

The incident was captured by surveillance cameras. According to police, the suspects are several men whose identities are currently unknown. An investigation has been opened under articles of the Criminal Code regulating the desecration of foreign state symbols and breaches of public order.

Vilnius city's third police commissariat is appealing to residents to identify the men visible in photographs. Individuals able to provide useful information are asked to contact investigator Angelina Kopač.
