On 21 August, at approximately 4.38 a.m., police received a report of a woman's body found at a farmstead in Dusetai township, Zarasai district. According to 15min, the woman, born in 1986, had a gunshot wound.

An immediate search for the suspect was launched, joined by officers from the anti-terrorism operations unit "Aras" and forces from the State Border Guard Service.

At approximately 7.40 a.m. in Utena, at the intersection of Pramonės and J. Basanavičiaus streets, officers stopped a car. The man found inside, born in 1976, was detained.

"The man was not found to have a weapon. He was intoxicated – 1.89 per mille. He was detained in the car," said Asta Šuminienė, a spokesperson for Utena police.

The police spokesperson did not disclose the relationship between the victim and the detainee. According to lrytas.lt, the crime was committed at a rural tourism farmstead – both individuals were guests there.

A pre-trial investigation was initiated into the death. The prosecutor from the Criminal Prosecution Department of the Panevėžys Regional Prosecutor's Office applied to the court requesting remand in custody for the suspect. The court granted the request – the 50-year-old man was remanded in custody for three months.

Officers continue procedural actions at the scene of the incident and are investigating the circumstances of the crime.
