Police gunfire on fleeing car in Luxembourg: one leg injured
A passenger in a white Mercedes received a bullet wound to the left leg at the end of a night-time chase in the Luxembourg capital. The officer, then holding the rank of first inspector, fired fourteen times with the fifteen rounds at his disposal, targeting the vehicle bearing French registration plates.
It all began around 21:00 in the city centre. The driver breached the traffic light on Avenue Marie-Thérèse and refused to stop during a routine traffic check. This was followed by a pursuit spanning several kilometres, which ended on the A4 motorway.
The appearance before the criminal court took place on Tuesday afternoon. Only the police officer was present at the hearing. The two people in the vehicle, a man and a woman, will be subject to judgment by default.
