San Juan increases security after foreign visitor homicide

The authorities of Puerto Rico will deploy nearly one hundred uniformed officers to protect designated areas of the capital, as a result of the upgrading of a citizen protection scheme that took place following the murder of a tourist in San Juan.

With regard to detentions, five people are currently under arrest: two males and three females.

The supervision strategy is not limited to physical territory. It has also been extended to the technological field, with the implementation of digital surveillance mechanisms in several locations throughout the municipality.

In addition, preventive patrols on the streets have been intensified as one of the actions resulting from the violent incident.
