Couple arrested in Guarda for sexual abuse of 13-year-old daughter
The Judicial Police arrested a foreign couple, both aged 32, in Guarda, accused of aggravated sexual abuse and domestic violence against their minor daughter. Both were remanded in custody.

The Judicial Police arrested a foreign couple in the city of Guarda accused of crimes of domestic violence, exploitation of a minor in begging, sexual coercion and aggravated child sexual abuse. The victim is the couple's own daughter, who was 13 years old at the time of the facts, which occurred in 2024.
According to CNN Portugal, the suspects — both aged 32 — had been charged by the Public Prosecutor's Office and were arrested on Tuesday by inspectors from the Criminal Investigation Department (DIC) of Guarda of the Judicial Police, immediately after the arrest warrants were issued.
The minor was already institutionalised following a process of domestic violence and exploitation in begging that was ongoing with the PSP, when the Judicial Police were alerted by the reception institution. The institution reported indications that the young woman had been victim of sexual abuse by her parent.
The Judicial Police then gathered "relevant evidentiary elements concerning the facts", with the initial case being attached to the case concerning the sexual crimes, according to a statement sent to the Lusa news agency.
The two suspects, who had been at an unknown location until Tuesday, were located in Guarda and arrested immediately. After their first judicial interrogation, the couple were subject to the precautionary measure of remand in custody.
The inquiry is being handled by the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) of Guarda.
