On Saturday 20 June in the afternoon, a tragic incident occurred in Gelnica in which a woman was killed. Crime scene technicians from the Košice region, along with other emergency services, attended the scene of the violent act. The case is being handled by regional investigators.
According to information available from JOJ television, the woman's partner is behind the attack. The man had legal problems in the past – he had previously served a sentence for serious threats and had only recently been released from prison. Neighbours describe him as a conflictive person, although these details have not yet been confirmed by official sources.
The victim worked as a teacher at a primary school. Her death occurred in a building that the couple used as a holiday home. Colleagues and residents of the city are devastated by the incident.
In connection with the investigation, the Košice regional police issued an appeal asking citizens for help in locating the vehicle. According to their statement, a man drove away from the crime scene in a grey Škoda Octavia with registration plate GL 055AX. The direction of travel is not yet known.
"If you spot the vehicle in question, do not approach it, do not address the person, do not attempt to stop them or contact them," law enforcement officials warn. Anyone who has seen the vehicle mentioned or has information about its location should call the emergency line 158 immediately.
Necessary procedural measures and evidence collection are ongoing at the crime scene. The police have not yet released further details and continue to investigate the circumstances of the case.
