The Argentine Federal Police extradited a 52-year-old Uruguayan citizen with an Interpol red notice to Uruguay, according to diariohuarpe.com. The man had escaped from the city of Salto while serving a sentence for arms and drug trafficking.

Officers from the Entre Ríos Police intercepted him in February 2026 in Concordia when he attempted to evade a security checkpoint. Following his arrest, he was held at Penal Unit No. 9 in Entre Ríos pending judicial proceedings.

The Federal Court of Concordia, presided over by Judge Analía Ramponi, with involvement of Alan Bergdolt's Penal Secretariat, ordered personnel from the Federal Operational Unit Division Gualeguaychú to execute the transfer. Federal Police officers assumed custody of the detainee and escorted him to the border crossing.

The formal handover took place at the General San Martín International Bridge, in coordination with Interpol Argentina. Agents from the Central National Office of Interpol Montevideo received the man, who was placed at the disposal of Uruguayan judicial authorities.
