Romanian man charged with Finglas murder after woman found dead at Dublin flats

A 47-year-old Romanian man has been charged with murder after a woman's body was found at a block of flats in Finglas, north Dublin, bbc.co.uk reports.

The victim has been named locally as Loredana Morosanu, who was in her 40s and originally from Romania but had lived in Ireland for several years. Gardaí found her body at her home at Melville Terrace in the early hours of Monday, after responding to an incident at the property at approximately 04:30 local time.

The accused, Daniel Simion Toader, also of Melville Terrace, appeared before Dublin District Court on Tuesday evening. He was dressed in a blue sweater, grey tracksuit bottoms and black shoes, according to Irish national broadcaster RTÉ. Toader did not reply when gardaí formally charged him with murder.

He spoke only through a court-appointed interpreter and had no legal representation during the hearing, due to an ongoing legal aid pay dispute involving Irish criminal defence lawyers.

A senior detective told the court that Toader had been arrested and charged at Finglas Garda Station earlier that Tuesday evening. He was remanded in custody and is next due before the court on 3 November.
