Stolen car chase on M50 ends in three arrests near Clondalkin
Three males were arrested in west Dublin on Sunday evening following a Garda pursuit of a stolen car along the M50, the Irish Times reports. A Garda helicopter and the armed support unit were both deployed during the operation.
Shortly after 7pm, gardaí from the Dublin Metropolitan North Division were on patrol as part of a continuing investigation into multiple burglaries when they observed a car with several occupants on the Naul Road near Dublin Airport. The vehicle failed to stop and a chase ensued.
"A co-ordinated response was launched, involving several local and divisional Garda units from across the Dublin region, including the armed support unit and air support," gardaí said in a statement.
The car came to a stop on the M50 near Clondalkin. Three males — two in their 20s and one juvenile in his mid-teens — were arrested at the scene.
All three are being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Garda stations in north Dublin.
The vehicle, a Volkswagen Golf, had been reported stolen during a recent burglary in the Santry area. It has since been recovered and taken for technical examination.
No injuries were reported. Investigations are continuing, gardaí said.
