Tobago shooting: Hasani Bobb killed by police after alleged armed confrontation

A Tobago man was shot and killed by police on Wednesday night following a confrontation near Patience Hill, guardian.co.tt reports.

Officers intercepted Hasani Bobb while he was driving a Nissan Tiida. Bobb was one of two suspects wanted in connection with the robbery of a police officer at Pigeon Point the previous week, during which the officer's firearm was reportedly stolen.

Senior Superintendent Rodhil Kirk said Bobb allegedly pointed a gun at officers and refused commands to drop the weapon. Fearing for their lives, officers discharged their firearms in keeping with the police use-of-force policy, Kirk said.

Bobb was transported to the Scarborough General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Kirk confirmed that two firearms were recovered at the scene, including the weapon reported stolen from the officer. Police are investigating the incident.
