A teenage boy has been charged with murder following a violent incident on Lisnahull Road in Dungannon, Co Tyrone. A 61-year-old man died at the scene; two others were hospitalised.

Murder charge for teenager after fatal Dungannon house attack

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a man in Co Tyrone, RTÉ News reports, following an incident on Lisnahull Road in Dungannon on Saturday morning.

The teenager also faces two counts of attempted murder and one charge of threats to kill. He is due to appear before Omagh Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Emergency services were called to the property shortly after 11am after a neighbour contacted police to report hearing a woman screaming inside the house. A 61-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His daughter, who sustained serious injuries, received first aid from police officers before being transferred to hospital in Belfast. Her mother was also taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Superintendent Peter Stevenson, the PSNI's Mid Ulster District commander, paid tribute at a press conference in Dungannon on Sunday to those who were first to respond.

"I have no doubt that their quick actions gave the young girl a fighting chance of survival," Stevenson said. "She is now in a stable condition in hospital."

Floral tributes have been placed outside the house where the attack occurred. The property remains cordoned off as the police investigation continues.
