Aberdeen scissors attacker receives seven-year sentence at Edinburgh High Court

Google News UK — Crime (en) reports that Jamie Black, 28, has been sentenced to seven years in prison after being found guilty of attempted murder in Aberdeen.

Black assaulted a woman with a pair of scissors at Craigievar Place in December 2024. He had also attempted to steal drugs from a man who was present with the woman.

According to the court, Black and his co-accused, Kelly Anne Booth, 52, entered a vehicle in which the pair were sitting. Black demanded the two hand over personal belongings before striking the woman with the scissors. He then took drugs from the man.

Booth seized the woman by her clothing and struggled with her during the assault. She was convicted of assault and sentenced to 18 months in custody.

Sentencing at the High Court in Edinburgh, Lord Young stated that a custodial sentence was the only available option for Black. The court was told Black expressed that he was "ashamed" of his actions.
