Imran Uddin, 35, has been handed a life sentence for the murder of his partner Ismail Younis, with a minimum term of 21 years, bbc.com reports.

Younis was found dead at Uddin's home in the Hockley area of Birmingham in August last year, three days after he went missing. West Midlands Police said Uddin had strangled Younis before stabbing him multiple times, continuing to stab him even after death.

Detective Sergeant Jeanette Roberts described Uddin as "a toxic narcissist who had to have it all his way" who had shown no remorse. The court heard Uddin was "coercive, controlling and manipulative" throughout the two-year relationship.

Uddin controlled his partner's clothing, appearance, and access to his mobile phone. He also "mocked Ismail's autism and regularly physically attacked him to assert his control", detectives said.

In the hours before the killing, Younis had told Uddin he wanted to end the relationship after discovering evidence of infidelity. On 17 August, Younis was last seen on CCTV riding on Uddin's scooter towards his address on Richmond Road.

After committing the murder, Uddin boarded a train from Birmingham New Street to Milton Keynes, where he had family. Police said he "didn't seem to have a care in the world" as he spent the following day getting a haircut, having his eyebrows threaded, and eating out. He was arrested in the Aylesbury area on 21 August.

Investigators found Younis' blood on Uddin's phone. The knife used in the stabbing had been washed and returned to a drawer at Uddin's home.

Det Sgt Roberts said: "Ismail's life was taken by a coercive, controlling and manipulative partner. Enraged that Ismail had found the strength to take back his independence and end the relationship, he manoeuvred Ismail to his death."

In a statement, Younis' family said: "Ismail — you will always be our little boy, but our lives without you will never be the same. You may no longer be with us, but you will never be forgotten. We carry Ismail's name, his memory and our love for him in our hearts forever."
