An investigation is under way after a man's body was discovered in a ditch alongside Old Gloucester Road in Staverton, bbc.co.uk reports. The body, believed to be that of 62-year-old Andy Reed from Cheltenham, was found at around 13:20 BST on 3 May. A post-mortem examination revealed a number of unexplained injuries.
Reed had been reported missing on 28 April. He was described as approximately 6ft (182cm) tall, of slim build, with facial stubble and thinning dark brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue body warmer over a khaki green jumper, brown cords and a black rucksack.
Detective Inspector Paula Hannaford, of Gloucestershire Constabulary's criminal investigation department, said she wanted to hear from anyone who may have seen Reed walking or cycling along Old Gloucester Road between 10pm on Saturday 25 April and 1:20pm on Sunday 3 May.
"Andy may have been riding a blue women's Dutch-style bike when he was last seen on Saturday 25 April, however the bike has not yet been located," Hannaford said.
She appealed directly to drivers who had used Old Gloucester Road during that period: "I am particularly keen for anyone reading this appeal who was driving along Old Gloucester Road between Saturday 25 April and Sunday 3 May who has access to dashcam footage to kindly review their footage for Andy and the outstanding bike."
Residents in Staverton and the surrounding area are also being asked to check doorbell camera and CCTV footage from the week leading up to the discovery.
Hannaford added: "Our thoughts remain with Andy's family at this very difficult time and we are doing all we can to establish the full circumstances around Andy's death."
Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary.
