A 28-year-old Bradford man has been jailed for four and a half years after detectives from West Yorkshire Police's county lines taskforce linked him to an active drugs line supplying crack cocaine and heroin into Leeds, Google News UK — Crime (en) reports.

Sadhiul Haque, of Nottingham Street, Bradford, was found to have operated a line that sent thousands of bulk text messages advertising Class A drugs for sale, predominantly targeting the Pudsey area of Leeds.

Officers from Operation Phoenix moved on Haque's address in February of this year. Inside the property they seized two mobile phones connected to the drugs line along with £1,520 in cash.

During a search of Haque's VW Golf, officers recovered a key to a Vauxhall Corsa parked outside. A search of that vehicle uncovered quantities of crack cocaine and heroin with a combined street value of £2,360, much of it pre-divided into individual deals. Forensic examination confirmed Haque's DNA on the packages.

He was subsequently charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine, being concerned in the supply of heroin, possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, and possession with intent to supply heroin. Haque pleaded guilty to all offences and was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court.

Detective Inspector Helen Chapman, who leads Operation Phoenix, said Haque had been supplying crack cocaine and heroin into the Pudsey area "for some significant time."

"Our investigation built up a detailed evidential picture that linked him solidly to these offences and saw him left with no option but to plead guilty at court," Chapman said.

She added that the supply of Class A drugs "fuels acquisitive crime and violence in our communities and brings misery to the lives of individual users and their families," expressing hope that the sentence would reassure the public and deter others.

Chapman confirmed that Operation Phoenix would continue targeting individuals and organised crime groups behind county lines drug dealing, describing the taskforce's approach as "robust" and "proactive."
