A drug dealer who hurled a sock stuffed with cocaine from his moving car as police signalled him to stop has been sentenced to one year and nine months in prison, kentonline.co.uk reports.

Aseed Jabarkhil, 36, of Lower Addiscombe Road, Croydon, was pulled over on The Ridgeway in Tonbridge on the evening of 15 March. Within seconds of being signalled to halt, he threw a tied-up bright white sports sock from the vehicle onto a grass verge.

Officers recovered the sock, which contained five individual deal bags of cocaine. A subsequent search of the car yielded £245 in cash and a handwritten list of names, believed to be drug buyers.

Detectives examining Jabarkhil's phone also found evidence that he had been actively supplying drugs. He was charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine between 29 February and 16 March.

The Afghan national pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court and was sentenced on Tuesday, 1 September.

Detective Sergeant Rob Hemsley said: "Sometimes when drug dealers realise they might be stopped by police, they will try to get rid of any illicit substances they have. But our officers are trained to be able to react quickly, so they were instantly alert to Jabarkhil's failed attempt to dispose of the cocaine that night and knew something was afoot."

Hemsley added that the officers' swift response had ensured "another drug dealer had been stopped and brought before the courts."
