A 28-year-old man from Colwyn Bay has been jailed for three years after admitting a sustained campaign of coercive and controlling behaviour against a woman, herald.wales reports.
George Kyle Daniels, of St David's Road, was sentenced at Caernarfon Crown Court following an investigation by North Wales Police into a series of reported incidents.
The court heard that Daniels' conduct pervaded almost every area of the victim's daily life. She was prevented from leaving the property, speaking with others, or maintaining contact with family and friends.
The abuse also extended to her personal routine. Daniels dictated what clothing she could wear, denied her privacy while washing, restricted how much food she was permitted to eat, and assumed control of her finances.
Daniels was arrested on Monday, 27 April, after detectives began examining the reported incidents. The investigation uncovered a sustained pattern of coercive control, which resulted in the case being referred to the Crown Court.
Following sentencing, Detective Constable Rae Ellis, from North Wales Police's Protecting Vulnerable People Unit, praised the victim for coming forward.
"I welcome the sentence passed by the court, and commend the courage and bravery displayed by the victim in this case," Ellis said. "Her resilience and strength throughout the process played a major part in the outcome and I hope that she can now move forward in her life."
Ellis added that North Wales Police remain committed to pursuing offenders who target women and girls. "I would encourage anyone who is subject to such abuse to contact us. You will be believed, and your information treated in the utmost confidence."
