Murder inquiry launched after body found at Burton Latimer address

Five people have been arrested in connection with a murder investigation after a man's body was discovered inside a property in Burton Latimer, itv.com reports.

Officers were called to a property on High Street on Wednesday afternoon following a concern for welfare report. Upon arrival, they found the man — believed to be in his 50s — dead inside. Investigators believe he had been dead for several days before the discovery was made.

A forensic postmortem examination was carried out on Thursday at Leicester Royal Infirmary, after which a formal murder investigation was launched.

Detectives from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit are leading the inquiry. Three men, aged 43, 48 and 54, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. A woman aged 38 and a man aged 53 have each been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All five remain in police custody.

Detective Inspector Cheryl Thompson said: "This is a fast-paced investigation with three people now in custody on suspicion of murder."

Thompson added that officers had been speaking to residents and local businesses in recent days and were continuing to appeal for information. "We would still like to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the High Street area of Burton Latimer in the last week or may have captured anything suspicious on dashcam, CCTV or a doorbell camera," she said.
