Five jailed for Lincoln kidnap after victim leaps from window to freedom

A man lured to a property in Market Rasen was assaulted and filmed overnight before escaping by jumping from a first-floor window. Five kidnappers have been sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court.

Five people have been sentenced to prison after a man escaped his captors by leaping from a first-floor window in Lincoln, BBC News reports.

The victim was lured to a property in Market Rasen in July 2025, with Lincolnshire Police stating the approach was tied to "personal matters linked to a past relationship breakdown." Once inside, he was "repeatedly assaulted, threatened, humiliated and tormented," while those holding him filmed the abuse on their mobile phones and laughed, according to the force.

After being held overnight, the man was driven to a house in Lincoln. CCTV footage captured him jumping into a tree, climbing down, and running into the street where he flagged down a passing police car. Armed officers intercepted two of the kidnappers in a vehicle shortly afterwards; the remaining three were arrested at the Market Rasen property.

The group were sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on 28 August.

Brad'Lee Ranyard, 20, of Portland Street, Lincoln, received nine years after being convicted of kidnap and pleading guilty to false imprisonment. Jackson Nicholson, 25, of Lindsey Drive, Gainsborough, was also jailed for nine years following convictions for kidnap, false imprisonment, and possession of a bladed object in public. Craig Ranyard, 42, of Barsey Walk, Horncastle, was sentenced to five years and three months after pleading guilty to false imprisonment.

Danielle Thompson, 38, of Lime Walk, Market Rasen, received four years and nine months, and Nathan Gladwell, 36, of Union Street, Market Rasen, was jailed for three years and seven months — both after pleading guilty to false imprisonment.

Detective Constable Liam Henderson described the ordeal as "sustained and deeply distressing," saying the victim had been "subjected to violence, threats and humiliation at the hands of people who appeared to find amusement in his suffering." Henderson added that the CCTV footage showed "a desperate moment in which he quite literally risked everything to get away from those holding him captive," and praised the victim's "remarkable courage in seizing the opportunity to escape."
