Morris, 64, was stabbed to death with a fork at her home, Penrhyn Uchaf, after disturbing a burglar on the premises. A 2023 inquest confirmed these circumstances.

Joseph Carl Westbury was tried for the crime but was found not guilty of her murder in 1995, having denied breaking into the bungalow. He died by suicide in May 2016.

North Wales Police confirmed that a man and three women — all from north Wales — were detained on Wednesday morning.

The force said advances in forensic science and a review of existing evidence had driven the new development, and that the Morris family had been informed.

Mark Pierce, senior review officer, said forensic results combined with a detailed review of witness evidence had provided grounds to interview all four individuals on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

Pierce also appealed for anyone with information relating to the case to come forward.
