Four people arrested on suspicion of perverting justice in the 32-year-old murder case of Doreen Morris, found dead in her burned-out Holyhead bungalow.

North Wales Police have arrested four people in connection with the murder of Doreen Morris, a 64-year-old woman found dead in her burned-out bungalow on the outskirts of Holyhead in March 1994 — more than 32 years after her death.

According to the Daily Express, a man and three women from North Wales were arrested on Wednesday morning on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. The arrests followed forensic developments and a detailed review of witness evidence carried out by the North Wales Police Major Crime Review Team, which launched a fresh examination of the case in 2024.

A 2023 inquest concluded that Mrs Morris had been stabbed to death with a fork after disturbing a burglary at her home, Penrhyn Uchaf, on Mill Lane, Anglesey. Joseph Carl Westbury was acquitted of her murder in 1995 and denied breaking into the property. He took his own life in May 2016.

Mark Pierce, Senior Review Officer, said new forensic results combined with a re-examination of witness testimony had given officers sufficient grounds to bring the four individuals in for questioning. "It doesn't matter how much time has passed — we will always seek out new opportunities to get justice for victims and their families," Pierce said.

Mrs Morris' family have been informed of the arrests.

North Wales Police continue to appeal for information and have asked anyone with knowledge of the case to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, quoting Operation Epose.
