Husband charged over death of GP at Norfolk home during children's sleepover

A man has been charged with murdering his wife, a GP understood to have treated members of the Royal Family, after she was found dead at her home in Norfolk while hosting a sleepover for children, lbc.co.uk reports.

Mark Cain, 45, has been charged with the murder of Hannah Cain — known professionally as Dr Hannah Terry — following her discovery on Sunday at the family home on Fern Hill, Dersingham, approximately one mile from Sandringham House.

Emergency services were called to the property at 2.20am on Sunday. Local reports indicate that other children were staying at the house at the time. Friends of Hannah's children were returned to their families as police erected a cordon around the property.

Dr Cain is understood to have worked with the Royal Family and had previously treated Queen Camilla, according to The Sun. Sources told the newspaper that the King and Queen Camilla had been informed of her death.

A notice on the website of Grimston Medical Centre, where Dr Terry is listed as a member of the practice team, states the surgery is "temporarily closed due to extremely difficult circumstances affecting our practice team."

Michael Devaney from the Crown Prosecution Service said: "The CPS has decided to prosecute Mark Cain for the murder of Hannah Cain following a police investigation into an incident at her home in Dersingham. We have worked carefully with Norfolk Police during their investigation. Our thoughts remain with the family of Hannah Cain at this time."

Police confirmed that Hannah Cain's family have requested privacy and are being supported by specialist officers.

Mark Cain, of Fern Hill, Dersingham, is due to appear before Norwich Magistrates' Court on Wednesday morning.
