Kent rapist Louis Taylor jailed 20 years for three rapes and kidnapping

A 32-year-old repeat sexual predator has been jailed for 20 years after subjecting a woman to a prolonged and violent attack in Rochester, Kent, the Daily Express reports.

Louis Taylor, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to eight charges: three counts of rape, wounding with intent, assault by penetration, burglary with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, attempted grievous bodily harm, and kidnapping. Additional charges — including intentional suffocation, sexual assault and assault — will lie on file.

The victim, who has been granted lifelong anonymity, told Kent Police that Taylor grabbed her by the hair and neck, dragged her around a room, kicked her repeatedly while wearing steel toe-capped boots, punched her, and struck her with a vacuum cleaner pole, causing significant injuries. He then sexually assaulted and raped her.

Taylor subsequently forced the woman into a car, threatening to harm her if she made a sound. He drove into Rochester, stopping only at a petrol station on City Way — at which point the victim managed to escape and asked members of the public to call police.

Officers attended the scene and took her into their care. Taylor was arrested the same day. While in custody, further inquiries uncovered a previous rape and an assault.

At Woolwich Crown Court on Friday, 21 August 2026, Taylor was sentenced to 20 years in prison and placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely. The judge commended the victim's courage, stating she had shown immense bravery in providing key evidence that enabled justice to be served.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Rachel Ford said Taylor's "horrific offending clearly shows how he is a serious danger to women and to society as a whole."

Ford added: "The severity of his sentence reflects that of his crimes as well as the trauma he has caused his victim. Kent Police is committed to ensuring all victims of violence against women and girls receive vital support and we will always seek to hold offenders to account. In this case I am satisfied Taylor is behind bars where he cannot continue to cause any further harm like that of which he has already inflicted."

The victim was supported throughout by a specially trained sexual offences liaison officer.
