A murder investigation is under way after a man died following reports of life-threatening injuries at a property on Wylds Lane, Worcester.

Officers were called to the scene shortly after 21:00 BST following reports that a man had sustained life-threatening injuries. The man, believed to be 42-year-old Damian Buczek, was taken to hospital, where he later died.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Lougher, of the force's major investigations unit, said: "This is a tragic incident which has resulted in a man losing his life, and our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this extremely difficult time."

Lougher added that officers were aware the incident would "cause unease locally" and that a thorough investigation was under way to establish the precise circumstances of the death.

Police have released an image of Buczek as they work to piece together his movements in the days and hours leading up to his death. Anyone who saw him on Monday or Tuesday is asked to contact West Mercia Police.

Residents in the Wylds Lane area are also being urged to review any CCTV, doorbell camera or dashcam footage that may be relevant to the investigation.
