Google News IE — Crime (en) reports that police in Co Tyrone are appealing to the public not to speculate about a suspected murder inquiry, after a man was found dead and a young girl left in a critical condition at a residential property in Dungannon on Saturday morning.

The man's body was discovered inside a home on the Lisnahull Road at approximately 11am on Saturday, 29 August. A male suspect was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and remains in custody.

The injured girl is being treated at the Children's Hospital in Belfast, where she remains in a critical condition. A woman who was also present at the property at the time sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged from hospital.

Detective Chief Inspector Robinson, leading the inquiry for the PSNI's major investigation team, confirmed the formal cause of the man's death has yet to be established. "Post-mortem examinations will take place in due course," he said.

Robinson urged restraint from the public pending further updates. "I would ask that the public avoid speculation until we can provide further updates," he said, adding that investigators do not believe there is any ongoing risk to the wider community and are not seeking any additional persons in connection with the death.

"Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of those involved," Robinson added.

At the scene on Saturday, a terraced property within the estate was cordoned off, with several officers and patrol vehicles stationed in the vicinity. A forensic specialist in a white protective suit was observed carrying an evidence bag from the property.
