South Yorkshire Police were alerted by the ambulance service at approximately 21:15 BST on Thursday. Officers arrived to find a man with multiple injuries; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination was carried out but returned an inconclusive result, with further tests required to determine the cause of death, a force spokesperson confirmed.
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Wood said: "We know this will be distressing news to our local communities, and our officers will remain in the Athersley South area throughout the day as our investigation continues."
DCI Wood added that a scene remained in place on Wingfield Road to allow officers to conduct their work, and encouraged anyone with concerns to approach officers directly.
South Yorkshire Police have asked anyone with information relevant to the investigation to come forward and make contact with the force.
