Plymouth stabbing at Derrys Cross: two arrested after city centre cordoned off

A man was taken to hospital with a suspected stab wound after an early-morning assault in Plymouth. Two men have been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent.

A large section of Plymouth city centre was cordoned off in the early hours of Monday 31 August after a man was stabbed near Derrys Cross Roundabout, the Daily Express reports.

Emergency services were called at around 3.50am following a report of an assault at the roundabout. The victim was taken to Derriford Hospital; his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Devon and Cornwall Police have arrested two men in connection with the incident — one from Plymouth in his 20s and one from London in his 30s — both on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Both remain in custody while enquiries continue.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "One man was taken to hospital with a suspected stab wound. The injury is not considered life-threatening. Two men in their 20s from Plymouth and one man in his 30s from London have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. They remain in police custody while enquiries continue."

Officers remain at the scene. The cordon covers the entire footpath from Derry's Cross and extends across the road towards Raleigh Street.
