Degnan, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on Monday. He had been found guilty of the offences following a trial in June.

Detective Constable Isaac Taylor said he hoped the victim could "take some comfort in seeing Degnan sentenced for this appalling offending".

Taylor added: "The survivor in this case has shown real courage in coming forward and supporting both the police and CPS in bringing this prosecution and then through the trial process."
