A seventh person has been charged in connection with two Cardiff teenagers who were allegedly trafficked to Thailand to smuggle drugs, Google News UK — Crime (en) reports.

South Wales Police confirmed that Carrie-Anne Dreyer, 39, of Llantwit Major, has been charged with conspiring to evade a ban on importing a class B drug and four counts of conspiring to arrange travel for another person with a view to exploitation.

Dreyer appeared at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on Thursday, where she did not enter a plea. She was remanded into custody and is due to appear before Cardiff Crown Court in October.

The two teenagers from Cardiff, both aged 17, were arrested in Thailand in June and remain in custody there. They were allegedly found carrying 64kg (141lb) of cannabis in their suitcases. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is providing consular support to the pair.

Following the arrests, South Wales Police launched an investigation into how the children came to be abroad in such circumstances.

Six others have already appeared before UK courts in connection with the case. Those charged include Tremaine Jeanne, 28, from Llanrumney; Patrick O'Driscoll, 30, of Caerau; and Ffion Bowes-Cavanagh Hooley, 24, of Caerau. A 23-year-old man from Keighley, West Yorkshire, who was arrested on suspicion of improper importation of controlled drugs, was bailed.

The families of the two teenagers have been informed of the latest development.
