Drug dealer with killing past jailed for 30 years over 3D-printed pistol murder
A convicted killer who used a partly 3D-printed Glock pistol to shoot dead an intruder at his Southampton home has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 30 years, bbc.co.uk reports.
Marcin Buryta, 32, called police shortly before 20:00 GMT on 11 February to report that he had shot someone at his address in Conifer Road. Officers arrived to find 45-year-old Piotr Pruszak with multiple gunshot wounds; Pruszak was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hampshire Police said Buryta had shot Pruszak four times. Parts of the weapon had been home-printed, with the remainder of the pistol assembled from other components. A search of the address uncovered two further firearms, a loaded crossbow, a machete, a dagger, knives and knuckle dusters.
Following the shooting, Buryta continued to exchange messages about the prices of cocaine and ketamine, police said.
Winchester Crown Court convicted him of murder, two counts of possessing a firearm, and one count of possessing ammunition with intent.
Detective Chief Inspector Clair Trueman said: "Buryta is a man obsessed with weaponry, who didn't stop with the initial shots he fired that night, instead retrieving further ammunition and shooting again."
Jurors heard during the trial that Buryta was 19 years old when he fatally stabbed a man at a birthday party in his native Poland. Officers described him as a drug dealer with a prior conviction for killing abroad.
Pruszak's family, who are from Poland, paid tribute to their "beloved son and brother".
