Police say a 72-year-old man from Sywell appeared in court on Tuesday charged with her murder, following reports of an assault at the site.

"Mum was a beautiful person inside and out — fun, bubbly, caring and incredibly kind," her family said in a statement. "She loved to laugh and had a special way of making those around her smile. Her warmth and loving nature touched so many lives."

The family selected the photo released alongside the tribute because it captured her "happy spirit" — someone they described as full of "love, laughter and life."

"Above all, she was a wonderful mum and a much-loved Nanny Sue, Sister, Auntie and friend," the statement continued. "She was deeply cherished by her family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Mum will be missed more than words can say, but the love she gave, the laughter she shared and the memories we made together will remain in our hearts forever."

Detective Chief Inspector Ryan Catling said on Wednesday that specialist officers are continuing to support the family. "Our investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is progressing, and although we have a man in custody, we are still keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the Ecton Lane area of Sywell, particularly the caravan park, in the hours leading up to the incident," Catling said.

He added that anyone with information, regardless of how minor it may seem, is asked to contact Northamptonshire Police as soon as possible.
