Boy, 15, held on murder suspicion after fatal Wembley stabbing

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal stabbing at Brent Civic Centre in Wembley, the Metropolitan Police confirmed on Wednesday, according to Daily Express.

Officers were called to Engineers Way at around 2.30pm on Tuesday after reports of a stabbing at the council headquarters. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service attended alongside police, but a teenager was pronounced dead at the scene from stab wounds.

The victim is believed to be 17-year-old David Wynter, though formal identification has not yet taken place. His next-of-kin are being supported by specially trained officers, the Met said.

The 15-year-old suspect was taken into custody and remains there, police confirmed.

A Section 60 order has been authorised covering the Wembley Park, Barnhill, Tokyngton, Stonebridge, Roundwood, Dollis Hill, Willesden and Welsh Harp ward areas of Brent. The order, which grants officers the power to stop and search individuals without the usual requirement of reasonable suspicion, runs from 3pm on Wednesday until 3.30am on Thursday.

Superintendent Chris Clarke, lead for emergency response policing in the area, said: "This was a tragic incident, and we are aware of the significant concern the stabbing has caused in the local community. A police presence remains in and around the crime scene."

Clarke added: "We would like to reiterate that officers do not believe there is any wider risk to the community."

Enquiries are continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference 4032/25AUG. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.
