Google News IE — Crime (en) reports that a 16-year-old boy has been arrested under the Terrorism Act following the discovery of four suspicious devices at a residential address in the Gardenville Avenue area of Omagh, Co Tyrone.

Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) officers carried out a planned search at the property on Monday. The initial find of one device prompted the placement of cordons and the temporary evacuation of a number of nearby residents while ammunition technical officers conducted an examination.

Three additional devices were subsequently uncovered as the search continued. A PSNI spokesperson confirmed that all four are believed to be viable explosive devices and have been removed from the property for forensic examination.

The security alert in the town has since ended.

The 16-year-old male remains in police custody. The PSNI spokesperson cautioned against public speculation, stressing that a motive has not yet been established. "While the suspect has been arrested under the Terrorism Act, our investigation to establish a motive remains very much ongoing," the spokesperson said.
