Three arrested after deliberate arson attacks in Coalisland and Cookstown, County Tyrone

Two separate arson attacks in County Tyrone led to three arrests on Sunday night. No injuries were reported at either property.

Three held after arson fires hit two County Tyrone towns

Google News UK — Crime (en) reports that three men have been arrested following two deliberate fires at properties in County Tyrone on Sunday night.

Police were called to a property on Gortgonis Terrace in Coalisland at around 23:40 BST. A bin placed beside a shed had been deliberately set alight, causing damage to the shed door and smoke damage inside. No further damage to the property was reported.

A 23-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with the Coalisland incident.

In Cookstown, officers received a report of a vacant property ablaze on Coolnafranky Park. The fire was contained to the living room, though smoke damage spread to adjoining rooms. That fire is also being treated as deliberate.

Two men, aged 19 and 20, were arrested in Cookstown on suspicion of offences including arson being reckless as to whether life would be endangered. Both have since been released on bail.

There was no one present at either property at the time, and no injuries were reported in either incident.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended both scenes and extinguished the fires.
