Three charged with attempted murder over Braintree shotgun attack

Two adults and a teenager face attempted murder charges after a shotgun was fired in Braintree town centre, injuring three people.

Two adults and a teenager have been charged with attempted murder following a shotgun attack in the centre of Braintree, Essex, BBC News reports.

Officers were called to Market Place at around 22:10 BST on Monday after what police described as a "targeted attack". Two teenagers suffered serious injuries to their face and upper body; a third person was also hurt.

Destiny Ema, 23, of Meadgate Avenue, Chelmsford, and Kayden Brown, 18, of Noaks Avenue, Chelmsford, are among those charged. A 17-year-old from Braintree, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is the third defendant. All three are due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Monday.

A 16-year-old boy, arrested separately in connection with the incident, has been released on police bail until 30 November.

Ema faces a series of additional charges linked to separate investigations, including attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, possession of a firearm while committing an indictable offence, possession of a firearm while prohibited for life, and possession of a shotgun with intent to cause fear of violence.

Several areas across Braintree were cordoned off by police earlier in the week as the investigation progressed.
