Google News IE — Crime (en) reports that twelve people have been arrested and weapons seized during a targeted police operation against violence and anti-social behaviour in north Liverpool.

Officers carried out extra patrols across the area on Thursday and Friday, conducting 70 stop searches over the two days.

Among those detained were a 16-year-old boy from Liverpool and a 14-year-old from Maghull, arrested after officers spotted an e-bike being ridden dangerously by two males on pavements along Rice Lane on Wednesday. An axe and a machete were recovered at the scene. Further arrests across the operation were linked to suspected drug offences.

Inspector Sean Harrison said: "These results should send a clear message to anyone carrying weapons, dealing drugs, or engaging in criminality in our communities that we will take robust action and bring offenders before the courts."

Harrison added that officers would continue to target those involved in criminal activity and urged residents to keep reporting concerns to police.
