Two men have been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire destroyed 140 cars and vans at Caldyne Business Park near Gatwick Airport. Both have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

A second man has been arrested in connection with a fire that destroyed 140 cars and vans at a business park near Gatwick Airport, The Argus reports.

The blaze tore through Caldyne Business Park in Rowfant on Saturday night, engulfing vehicles parked at the site. Emergency services remained at the scene overnight, while UK Power Networks cut power to the immediate area and several nearby roads were closed as a precaution.

A 67-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson on Saturday, 22 August. A second suspect, aged 29, was taken in on Monday, 24 August on the same suspicion.

Sussex Police confirmed both men have since been released on bail pending further enquiries. "A 67-year-old man was arrested on 22 August and a 29-year-old man was arrested on 24 August on suspicion of arson," a force spokesman said. "They have since been bailed, pending further enquiries."

Car owners whose vehicles were at the site are advised to contact the operator directly. Anyone with information is asked to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 1504 of 22/08.
