Influencer accused of running down rival appears in London court
Beauty influencer Gabrielle Carrington, 29, made a heart gesture toward friends and family in the public gallery as she appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on Tuesday, nypost.com reports. She faces charges of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm and drink-driving.
Carrington allegedly drove her Mercedes into fellow influencer Klaudia Zakrzewska, 30, just after 4:30 a.m. on Sunday outside the Inca nightclub in Central London, following a fight in the street. Zakrzewska remained in a life-threatening condition as of Tuesday, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Prosecutor Rizwan Amin told the court that Zakrzewska was "trapped and dragged" under Carrington's vehicle. Security footage shown in court captured Carrington arriving at the scene, having an altercation with a man that "escalated to involve several other members of the public," before returning to her car, which then "immediately moved off and sharply mounting a pavement," Amin said.
Video circulating on X appears to show the two women exchanging blows in the street as a crowd gathers. The footage then shows a car driving into Zakrzewska before reversing back over her.
Two others were also struck. Security guard Anoush Chyche, in his 50s, was hit while unlocking an e-scooter nearby and suffered "life-changing injuries." A woman in her 30s, Latisha Armstrong, sustained a wrist injury, Amin said.
Carrington was found to be almost twice the legal alcohol limit following the incident, Amin told the jury. He described the scene outside the nightclub as a "melee" with "lots of people shouting" when police arrived, adding that "the full extent of the incident wasn't appreciated at the time officers had attended."
The alleged dispute stemmed from an "ongoing" conflict between parties who were known to each other, according to Amin.
Carrington, who is from Manchester and has more than 365,000 Instagram followers under the handle "RIELLEUK," was formerly a member of girl group Miss Dynamix, which appeared on the British television show "The X Factor" in 2013. She spoke in court only to confirm her identity.
Zakrzewska, who is Polish-born and has nearly 270,000 Instagram followers under the handle "klaudiaglam," had family members present in the courtroom on Tuesday.
Carrington was remanded in custody. Her next court appearance is scheduled at the Old Bailey on May 19.
