Ambulance staff called officers to the address in Summer Lane at 12:52 BST on Saturday. A man in his 30s was found dead at the scene.

The suspect was arrested later that afternoon on suspicion of murder and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. He was subsequently charged with the lesser offence of manslaughter.

Umidbek Akhmedov, 31, of Summer Lane in Bromeswell, was due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates' Court on Monday.

A post-mortem examination was carried out on Sunday, but Suffolk Police said further work was required to establish the precise cause of death.

Investigators said the two men were understood to have known each other. Police are treating the death as an isolated incident.
