Worthing man held over seafront indecency reports this summer

A 38-year-old man from Worthing has been arrested in connection with a series of incidents on the town's seafront, The Argus reports. Sussex Police had been investigating multiple reports of inappropriate sexual behaviour — including harassment and indecent conduct — that occurred along Worthing seafront during July and August.

The man has since been bailed pending further enquiries. Bail conditions bar him from the seafront area south of West Parade, Marine Parade, and Beach Parade.

As part of the investigation, officers carried out targeted patrols, reviewed CCTV footage, and conducted extensive local enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Noel Simmonds said: "We understand that the incidents reported to us have caused some distress. Our investigation remains ongoing as we build a clear picture of the incidents that have taken place in the Worthing seafront area."

Simmonds urged anyone with relevant information to come forward. "If you witnessed any incident of inappropriate behaviour, or have experienced or seen something that concerned you, we would urge you to contact Sussex Police quoting Operation Saltwater," he said. "No matter how small you may think the information is, it could help us with our ongoing enquiries and ensure we have as full a picture as possible."

Anyone wishing to report information can complete an online reporting form or call 101, quoting Operation Saltwater.
