Two men were shot dead and two others wounded during a confrontation at a gas station in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on the night of 7 May, katv.com reports.

Officers from the Pine Bluff Police Department (PBPD) responded at around 9:30 p.m. to the address at 101 North Blake Street following reports of a shooting. On arrival, they found one male victim lying near the entrance of the business and a second male in the parking lot, both with apparent gunshot wounds.

The man near the front door was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center (JRMC), where he later died from his injuries.

A few blocks away, officers also located two additional male gunshot victims. Both were transported to JRMC. One is expected to be discharged, while the other was in surgery at the time of the initial report.

According to witnesses and evidence gathered at the scene, a group of males — including the three who were taken to JRMC — approached the deceased man standing in front of the store. Gunfire was exchanged between the group and that individual, resulting in two deaths and two further injuries. No other casualties were reported.

The identities of the deceased are to be released once they have been formally identified and next of kin notified, authorities said.

Two suspects have been named: DeShawn Sanders, 36, and VonKavious Briggs, 23. Both were receiving hospital treatment at the time charges were announced and were to be formally arrested following their discharge. Briggs has since been released from hospital and was booked into the Jefferson County Detention Center at 2:27 a.m.

Both men face charges of capital murder.
