Queens Man Killed by Stranger on Jamaica Avenue as Parents Watched

Sulimon Ferrier, 29, a father of four, was stabbed to death in front of his parents in Jamaica, Queens, early Saturday morning — and the suspect remains at large, abc7ny.com reports.

Ferrier and his father, Peter Ferrier, were walking home along Jamaica Avenue after visiting a nearby bar when a stranger approached and made threats. "He's talking, saying he's not afraid of nobody, he's going to kill everybody, and so I tell my son, let's go and let's leave this guy," Peter said.

The suspect came up from behind. Peter warned his son, but there was no time. The attacker stabbed Sulimon first in the chest, then in the back, outside Seduction Lounge and Bar. His mother, Cynthia Ferrier, was also present and attempted to intervene. "I could see the knife in his hand, and I tried to hold the guy's hand down," she said.

Newly obtained video shows Sulimon struggling to survive as his mother tried to wrestle the weapon away. Cynthia then helped her son into a nearby restaurant and attempted to stop the bleeding. "He was like, 'Mom, I can't breathe. I can't breathe,'" she recalled.

Peter described his own helplessness in those moments. "My son was on top of him, and he had the option to put his hand over my son and stab him. I couldn't save my son," he said.

Sulimon's younger brother learned of the attack when friends sent him video from the scene. Their mother then called to tell him his brother had died. "I thought he was going to be ok. I even texted him before he passed. I was like, 'Give me a call when you get out of surgery; I'm going to come and see you,'" the brother said.

The Ferrier family is originally from Guyana. Relatives describe Sulimon as the heart of the family — someone who was always looking out for others.

Despite her grief, Cynthia addressed the suspect directly. "Killing somebody out of anger, now you have to face the penalty. I forgive you. I will forgive him," she said.

Witnesses told Eyewitness News the suspect fled on foot after the attack. He had reportedly been accompanied by another man in a white pickup truck before the stabbing. Detectives have since identified the vehicle and are continuing their investigation.

No arrests have been made. The search for the suspect is ongoing.
